The Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia at LSHTM and the MRC/UVRI & LSHTM Uganda Research Unit are testing if this type of care could be pushed one step further. Kangaroo mother care is an example of a feasible and cost-effective method of care that is already making a big difference to preterm survival. With a global trend towards an increase in preterm births, now is the time for action to end inequalities in survival so that every newborn has the best chance to survive and thrive.
